End of The-Dream's Love Trilogy (Album Review)

By Abayomi Kalaote
Terius Youngdell Nash (better known as The-Dream) has been in the music industry for much longer than most people know. He has been an active singer-songwriter, record producer and overall entrepreneur since 1998. The-Dream has written songs for many artists such as Beyonce's “Single Ladies” (put a ring on it), J.Holiday's “Bed” & “Suffocate” and Rihanna's “Umbrella." As for his own music, The-Dream has released two albums since 2007 and plans on releasing his third and final album on June 29, 2010. His solo albums have been referred to as a “Love Trilogy” on account of their titles which all contain the word "Love" accompanied by some other word or phrase.
The-Dream's debut album titled “Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter,” better known as "Love Hate" was released in December of 2007. This album featured his hit songs “I Luv Your Girl,” “Shawty is a Ten,” and who could forget about his slow jam “Falsetto”! One man commented on Love Hate in an album review stating, “The-Dream is at his best when he’s experimenting with sound arrangements; it’s as if he listened to a whole lot of prince at some point, and wanted to slip a bit of that in.” –Micheal D. Ayers
His sophomore album “Love vs. Money” is my personal favorite. This album features the smash hits “Rockin that Thang,” “Walkin on the Moon” featuring Kanye West, and “My Love” featuring Mariah Carey. This album has a very high-tempo vibe in the beginning and can get you moving and grooving. However it slows down towards the middle and has many slow jams that get you flowing to the rhythm.
Love King has been announced as The-Dream’s final solo album however he will continue working on songs for other artists and most likely be featured in many more songs to come. With two of his songs already blazin' through the radio, “Love King” and “Make-up Bag” we have a lot to look forward to with the release of this album. Oh and here’s a note to The-Dream himself: ”I’m a very big fan so pretty pretty please don’t leave for too long!”
